Volunteer With Us at Lakelands Hospice

Volunteers are at the heart of Lakelands Hospice. Their time, compassion and dedication help us provide a warm, welcoming and supportive environment for people living with a progressive life-limiting illness and their families.

We are always looking for enthusiastic people to join our volunteer team. There are many ways you can get involved, whether you enjoy supporting people, helping behind the scenes, or sharing a specialist skill.

Some of our volunteer opportunities include:

  • Reception volunteers – welcoming patients and visitors and helping with telephone enquiries.
  • Minibus drivers and hosts – helping patients travel safely to and from the hospice.
  • Day hospice hosts – offering refreshments, conversation and companionship.
  • Kitchen support – assisting with serving meals and helping in the kitchen.
  • Gardeners – helping maintain our beautiful hospice grounds.
  • Complementary therapists and counsellors – offering specialist support to our patients.
  • Administrative volunteers – supporting our team with office task.
  • DIY and maintenance volunteers – helping with practical tasks around the hospice.
  • Craft volunteers – creating items to support our fundraising activities.

We also have opportunities within our fundraising team and Lakelands Warehouse, including helping at events, collecting donations, supporting retail sales, and assisting with logistics.

No matter how much time you can give, your support can make a meaningful difference. Many roles require no previous experience, just enthusiasm, reliability, and a desire to help others.

Volunteers must be aged 16 or over, and some roles involving patient contact require an Enhanced DBS check.
